Please note that Selous and Ruaha are dry season parks and only available during the drier months. The best times to visit these parks is in June to November. Ruaha is open at other times of the year, but game is more scattered and more difficult to spot.
This Safari is scheduled for June 10th 2018, there are 2 places available (subject to accommodation availability at this stage).
Day 1: Transfer from Arusha to Selous
Transfer from School of St Judes to Kilimanjaro Airport for flight to Dar Es Salaam. Our driver will meet us at the Airport, then drive us to Selous game reserve. Selous is Africa's largest game reserve, covering an area of 55,000 km square. Because of its relative isolation and the popularity of The Serengeti, it gets few visitors, meaning you won’t come across many other vehicles on your daily game drives.
Lunch will be served en-route and proceed with drive to selous.
Evening boat safari of at least 2 to 3 hours. Dinner and overnight at the Hippo Camp.
Day 2: Selous
Early walking safari and come back for breakfast. After breakfast depart with pack lunch for the full day game drive in the Selous reserve. Lunch will be served in the Park and proceed with game drive until the evening time. Dinner and overnight at the Hippo Camp.
Day 3 and 4: Selous
After morning breakfast collect your lunch boxes and depart for a full day game drive in the magnificent Selous game reserve. Lunch will be served in the park followed by a short rest before we continue our game drive until sunset, where you will return to the camp. Dinner and overnight at Hippo Camp.
We do have the option here (by majority consent) of having an early morning drive, returning for lunch, and then having an afternoon and evening drive. Selous is such a large park, that this option will be available for one day only.
Day 5: Selous—Ruaha
After breakfast we will drive to the airstrip to catch a flight to Ruaha national park. We will arrive at Ruaha in time for lunch. After lunch we will have time to explore before we depart for an evening game drive until sunset. Dinner overnight at the cottages or similar.
Day 6: Ruaha
After morning breakfasts depart with lunch box for full game drive. Lunch will be served in the park followed by afternoon leisure before continue with the game drive until sunset time. Dinner and overnight at the cottages or similar
Day 7: Ruaha
An early morning game drive then return to the camp for late breakfast. After breakfast we will have a little rest before departing with lunch box for afternoon game drive until sunset where we will return back for dinner. Overnight at the cottages or similar.
Day 8 Ruaha:
At sunrise enjoy a wonderful walking safari for about two hours along the Great Ruaha River with two armed rangers. There is a possibility of viewing hippos, crocodiles, lions and lots of other animals that come to drink in the river. We will return to camp for late breakfast. We will remain in camp for lunch, then depart for an afternoon and evening game drive until sunset. Dinner and overnight at the cottages or similar.
Day 9: Ruaha-Arusha
Early morning depart for a drive to Arusha. You will stop by at Iringa for breakfast then continue with the drive to Arusha. This is quite a long drive, but it is worth driving one way, you get a really good look around. Overnight at The School of St Jude.
All Safari's offer the option of adding on 3 or 4 days in Zanzibar and 3-6 nights at The School of St Judes to explore Arusha and enjoy its many cultural experiences.
